After receiving his PhD in Engineering and Masters in Engineering Construction Management from the University of Pittsburgh in the USA in 2002, Dr. AbdulAziz Al-Babutain founded Himmah - at the time the first such Saudi firm specializing in project development.
Dr. Al-Babutain is the President of both Himmah Consultants and Himmah Projects. Through these entities, he has built consortia for a number of energy and infrastructure projects and acted as co-developer and shareholder of some mega projects including a steel cluster, and another for manufacturing silica and glass.
Dr. AbdulAziz Al-Babutain is an expert in project development, transportation and logistics, with special emphasis on the supply-chain management. In addition, he has extensive experience in privatization and project management.
He joined the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) in December 2004 as executive member and Director General of the Transportation & Logistics Sector. His SAGIA tenure ended in January 2008.
